Adding Value to your home
When one is, designing the landscape of a home or looking into water features to your existing lawn one important feature to consider is hedges. These are important and sometimes stand features of your property and can serve multiple purposes.
One purpose that hedges can serve as is for privacy. Privacy or living fencing can separate your property from that of your neighbors without the need of traditional wooden or chain link fences. Hedges such as the California Privet, Spruce Pines, and Canadian Hemlock all make good privacy fences. These hedges will not only add privacy from others but will also add a lot of texture to your property. These can also help cut down in the noise of busy streets or busy areas or can even help cut down on wind.
Hedges such as English and Green Mountain Boxwoods can be used to line driveways, used to hide unsightly foundations, or even as accent pieces in gardens. These types of hedges are evergreens that means that one won't have to stress about bare limbs even in the harshest of winters. They are maintenance free and with the right pruning can be cut into whatever shape ones desire. Some people choose to stick to their names and prune them to resemble a box, others prefer to round them out, and these hedges can even cut into fun shapes.
If one is looking for more decorative or colorful hedge, then you will need to look into planting something like the Karl Sax Forsythia that will add a splash of vibrant yellows to your lawns and gardens. Another option would be the Burning Bush Shrub which is a little taller and produces the colors resembling a fire or burning bush. Both of these are spectacular with their colors and are used to line a driveway or fence.
So before one finalizes your design plans make sure that you consider all the options before choosing your shrubs and bushes. Make sure to consider what their primary goal will be and what options would work best on your property.
